Welcome!

Welcome to my crafting blog that will track the progress of projects in development for my Etsy shop at lambgarden.etsy.com.  There will be pictures, crocheting tips, and other bits and bobs!

When people say, "I can't crochet!" (Part 1)

A lot of the time, when people hear that I crochet they respond that they don't think they could do it.  Some have even tried and failed.  I'll be honest: it is not difficult.  But you need to know a few things including the tools of the trade.

There are different sized crochet hooks and which one you use will depend on the weight of your yarn, the pattern you are following, and the desired "tightness" and size of your finished product.  Often, I use an H just because that is what I started on but also it works best for many of my projects.  You can play around with different sized hooks and see which works best for you.

Also, I prefer (and will use no other brand) Susan Bates crochet hooks.

You can hopefully see from this photo that the heads of the hooks are relatively flat which makes it easier to dip it in between stitches and makes it a thousand times easier and fast to pull the yarn back out.

I hope this helps!  Stay tuned for more hints, tips, patterns, and fun stuff!
